Home Missioners in Ministry
Don’t miss the opportunity to join the ‘Voices from the Field’ virtual event this coming Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. to find out more about the work of the Office of Deaconess and Home Missioner. Administered by United Women in Faith, you will hear from people who are transforming their communities — including our very own Bill White! Bill will be joined by two other Home Missioners as they share their work and life stories, daily challenges, hopes, and dreams. Hope to (virtually) see you then.

The Coats Off Their Backs
Our loving community continues to amaze us. Thanks to Greg and Maggie at Leland Harbor House for hosting a coat drive the week before Thanksgiving, which resulted in 125 warm coats being donated to 5Loaves2Fish! We sorted them and packed them up earlier this week to distribute at the Pines in Traverse City and at Safe Harbor. And a special shout-out to The Find North that selected 5Loaves2Fish for Giving Tuesday with incredible results. With their help, we will be able to cover an entire month’s worth of staple food purchases for our kitchen. On behalf of our homeless friends who struggle during cold Northern Michigan winters, thank you to these wonderful businesses and those who donated.
(TIP: Did you know that if you are making a donation of clean, warm clothing or sleeping bags at the Good Will store in Traverse City that you can ask to have it earmarked for Safe Harbor? Just let the person at the dropoff point know your wishes, and they’ll make it happen!)READ MORE

400 Meals A Week … And Counting
The smiles and laughter of our wonderful volunteers are so uplifting that it might be easy to forget the sobering reason behind their hard work. The sad truth is that the need to feed the homeless and food-insecure friends in our community is only growing. We are now providing 350 to 400 meals each week — exponentially higher than the need just 3 years ago when 5Loaves2Fish was founded. If you feel called to help support our mission, which costs upwards of $100,000 per year, please consider consider contributing to our endowment that has been established through the Grand Traverse Community Foundation. A recurring monthly gift would be especially appreciated and would help us continue to be able to provide nutritious, homemade meals to those in need. (You can even make a donation in honor of a friend or family member. What a great holiday gift!)
